A Cappella Showcase and Auditions

MID has had a great year--our pie auction was a great success, we had a rockin' final concert featuring new arrangements and now that the summer has begun we will start recording tracks our new yet-to-be-titled album. Three of our tracks our featured on the Best of UChicago A Cappella (Back to Black, Superman (It's Not Easy), and Son of a Preacher Man). All you first years interested in a cappella, come on by the A Cappella showcase at the beginning of the year and see us live! And then come by auditions and audition for us! On May 30th Men in Drag will be opening for DePaul Men's A Cappella at Lincoln Hall. Buy tickets online for $5 or at the door for $10.

Doors open at 7, show starts at 8.

Hittin the street.

It's the new year and Men In Drag has finished their Winter Tour with successful and holiday cheer-filled shows throughout Chicago, concluding with a fun street-side gig for the Salvation Army outside the State Street Macy's department store.

We also recently opened for the Other Guys at St. Xavier!

Men in Drag presents: A Material Girl Holiday Concert

We are living in a material world, and we are material girls.

Come and see Men In Drag for their fall quarter Holiday Concert. We will be performing old favorites and a slew of brand new songs (with exciting brand new choreography) along with some super special Uchicago holiday songs.

The concert will be at Bond Chapel at 7:30 PM, Friday December 4th. Guest a cappella superstars InVox will also be performing.

Get your tickets from your favorite MiD-er or come to the Reynolds Club Monday-Wednesday this week (Nov 30-Dec 2) for your ticket. Tickets are $3 in advance and $5 at the door. CD tickets are also available for admission to the concert and a copy of our most recent album, No Pants, No Problem, for only $12! What a deal!

"No Pants, No Problem" CD Release Concert a huge hit!

All fifteen MiD-ers 2008-2009 after the concert!

A HUGE thanks to all our friends and fans who joined us in Bond Chapel on June 5th as we released our pride and joy, "No Pants, No Problem." The hall was packed and full of energy, and we had such an incredible time performing for you! Copies are NOW AVAILBLE for purchase via PayPal under albums.

Upcoming Events

We have a series of events coming up including:

• Sept 26th - All of the a cappella groups on campus will be holding a joint open house on Friday of o-week on the Bartlett quads from 1-3. Come by and ask us any questions you have, buy some CD's, and sign up to audition!
• Sept 30th - The a cappella groups on campus are getting together to perform short sets for everyone interested in auditioning, so come by to check out the sounds of MID and sign up for an audition after the show!
• October 1st-2nd - Auditions will be held in Cobb on the 1st and 2nd, once you get there follow the signs to the room.
• October 3rd - We will have a table at the RSO fair to catch any last minute auditions, so if you didn't get a chance to sign up earlier stop by our table and be prepared to sing!

You can also sign up to audition online now on our website, just click on the auditions link on the menu on at the left side of the screen and click sign up under the time slot you want. You will recieve an email with a password you can use if you need to change your time (but please no changes after 6 oclock on the day of your audition). Be ready to sing a verse and a chorus of a song of your choosing and we will walk you though some other vocal exercises to hear your range, so make sure you are warmed up!

We will be holding auditions for new members during 1st week (Sept 28th - Oct 3rd). Keep watching the site for more updates about o-week events and signing up to audition. Also make sure you check through the packets you recieve on the first day of orientation to find a compilation CD of songs from the most prominent a cappella groups on campus, including MID!

Winter Concert A Great Success!

Our winter concert was a great success! Thanks to Voices In Your Head for being our special guest. We look forward to returning the favor next Thursday, March 13 during their winter concert. In addition to preparing for our concert, we have been getting ready to lay down a few tracks for our next CD, set to be released in Spring of 2009. We are planning a couple of performances for next quarter including a possible appearance at dance marathon, as well as our spring quarter concert. This will be an extra special event for us as we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary and have invited all of our alums back to join us!
